The Prevention of Homelessness and Early Intervention Program (PHEIP) aims at empowering families and individuals to be able to maintain and remain in their current accommodation through active client participation.
How?:
By working in collaboration with other service providers like Centrelink, Housing Groups, Property Managers and other Community Service providers that are able to identify families and individuals in the early stages of being at risk of becoming homeless.
Centacare also has a number of programs available in-house such as the SAAP service and a number counseling services, which will make it easier for PHEIP clients to access these. We are also able to provide advocacy, information and referral to other services, for people in the Hervey Bay and Maryborough region.
The program aims to empower people to re-establish and strengthen family relationships and community support networks. It strives to increase their capacity to access support services and address issues that put them at risk of homelessness. Through active participation clients will be able to enhance their coping mechanisms and their capacity to address the issues that put them at risk of becoming homeless.
